Deskscape card reader sacrifices functionality for design

Deskscape Reader

Most manufacturers have a pretty good grasp on the line between design and functionality. You can make a pretty gadget as long as it is still functional, and vice versa. The UNO was simply an achievement of uncompromised design despite using commercial (off the shelf) electronic components.
