The illustrations for children, which has always been conceived as a “minor art,” opens a space of possibilities, from my point of view, it is pointless framing it in such taxonomies. The same with the watercolor, or the guitar, in music. A great master in this art (music), Jesus Sanz, told me a story that always made me think. At the conservatory in which it was, football sided games were organized among the students. Well, one of the meetings was “against guitarists musicians.” These categories are history, but even so, still appear new dichotomies that remind us obsolete. Now is the illustration with traditional and digital techniques. How long?, Is that the media and the media will continue to condition the quality of the work?, Under what criteria?, Especially with what technology has advanced for good artist there is no way that can resist it and if not enough a glimpse of the past century what Picasso would have done with a computer?.

We’ll never know, but I can not imagine … Our traditional patterns as often betray the purpose of the achievements in this field. No doubt that is very beautiful original contemplation of one made with techniques called “own” the artwork, in fact many events in which calls for illustrators, illustrations show these works of art themselves, missing often the objective for which they were motivated, ie accompany a text directed at children. That is why we can see exquisite works of dubious bill, but adaptation to the understanding of the image by the children. No objection to this development of artistic illustration is more I think has a future Extremely regarding the quality and innovative proposals that are viewed. But one thing is speculative building within its genre and one practical application. All artwork, today, is destined for publication in the media, also well advanced edition editorial. To perform this process, all artwork should be scanned or photographed and translated into digital media.

Is not it logical then that digital illustration is the ideal way for this purpose?. It is not then in terms of relieving one another, it is rather to understand what is the ultimate goal and its suitability or otherwise to it. We can deduce that the quality has nothing to do with the media, the picture has been introduced gradually in this field, has also made great contributions in this regard, and has not questioned its use. In art schools and art schools, there remains an underhand manner this discussion, but I think it should already be outdated, as we move inexorably to a world determined by the pixels and the Internet.
